History of a Robe

Many years ago I took interest in the East. It was begin from the moment when my best friend presented me a book about history and culture of the East. It was so excited to get to know new interest facts. And I had got a fix idea to visit some of the East country. And my dream came true. Last year I visited a magic place called Japan. It was wonderful. There are very interesting national cuisine and national clothing. There I learned many interesting things and I found out that the habitual robe for us came from the East.
From extreme antiquity a dressing gown was a main type of clothing in the East. It had a free cut and wide sleeves. It was sewed basically from silk, because it was considered that the silk had a good influence on people’s skin and could cure from many diseases. As for patterns, so it wasn’t paid or striped, a pattern on a material have been closely connected with national ideas about life, nature and happiness. The Medieval period is gold years for robe: it served not only as daily clothing, but also as ceremonial clothing. As a result are issued state edicts which regulated form, colour, and a material of robes for the emperor and his close and government officials. In spite of this in our days we prefer to wear dressing gowns at home. It is very comfortable and don’t hinder our movements.
From Japan I took a lot of presents and souvenirs to relatives and friends, including robes from natural silk, they look like kimono. They have different colourful patterned. My friends were so glad that a part of the East culture will be in their house. Next year I will plan to visit India and to begin study a mystery thing for me called Buddhism.
